Terms of service
Version 2026.08 · in force from 1 August 2026
1. Who we are
These terms govern your use of the Ally cabinet online mentorship suite ("Ally", "the service") operated by AllyHub Ltd, a UK limited company registered at Companies House under number 15 619 428 with its registered office at 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. Our VAT number is GB 493 617 208. The company director is James Whittaker. You may reach us at support@allyhub.org, at +44 20 3695 4712, or by post at the registered address above.
2. Scope
Ally is an online mentorship platform. When you create an Ally account and sign in to your cabinet, we provide: (a) the ability to book video mentorship sessions with a mentor we match you with; (b) shared session notes editable by you and the mentor; (c) a homework tracker; (d) asynchronous message threads with the mentor; (e) the underlying account infrastructure including magic-link sign-in, optional two-factor authentication and session management. We do not provide financial advice, medical advice, legal advice, therapy, counselling, or any other regulated professional service.
3. Account creation and use
You must be at least sixteen years old to create an Ally account. By clicking a magic-link sign-in email, you confirm that you are the person entitled to receive email at that address and that you accept these terms and our privacy notice. Each person may hold one Ally cabinet for personal use, plus one seat inside a Team or Business workspace if invited. You may not share access to your cabinet with anyone else — team plans exist for shared use. You are responsible for keeping access to your email inbox secure; if you lose control of the inbox, follow the recovery walkthrough.
4. Plans, billing and cancellation
Personal plans are billed monthly or annually in advance in Pounds Sterling (GBP) inclusive of UK VAT at the applicable rate (currently 20%). Team and Business plans are billed monthly in advance by seat. Payment is taken by card via our processor (Stripe Payments UK Ltd) or by GoCardless Direct Debit. You may change plan at any time from account settings; upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated for the current cycle, downgrades take effect at the start of the next cycle. You may cancel a monthly plan at any time and it will not renew at the next billing date. Annual plans do not auto-renew by default. Cancellation does not by itself delete your Ally cabinet — see clause 11.
5. Refunds
Under section 34 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if the digital content or service supplied is not as described or of satisfactory quality, you are entitled to a refund. Beyond that statutory right, AllyHub offers a pro-rata refund on any plan within thirty (30) days of first activation of that plan tier, less the value of sessions already consumed at the ordinary session price. Refund requests should be sent to support@allyhub.org. See the full refund policy.
6. Mentor relationship
All mentors accessible via Ally are contracted directly by AllyHub Ltd. You do not enter into any contract with the mentor individually; your contract is with AllyHub Ltd. We are responsible for mentor conduct and the quality of the service. If a session is unsatisfactory, tell us — we will offer either a replacement session, a refund of the individual session's ordinary price, or a change of mentor as you prefer. The mentor is bound by our Acceptable Use Policy and by a professional code that includes confidentiality of your notes.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Ally to: send unlawful, harassing, defamatory or discriminatory content; impersonate another person; attempt to access another user's cabinet or data; reverse-engineer or attempt to circumvent our security controls; use automated tools to scrape mentor listings or session content; use the platform to sell or promote unrelated products or services. Full detail is in the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these terms. Serious or repeated breach may result in immediate cabinet suspension.
8. Confidentiality and privacy
Everything you write inside your Ally cabinet — private notes, homework entries, message threads — is confidential to you and, where relevant, to your mentor. AllyHub staff do not access individual cabinet contents except: (a) where you explicitly request support that requires it, and only for the minimum time needed; (b) where required by a lawful order (a court order or a valid regulator request). Aggregate anonymous metrics are used for product improvement. Our full handling of personal data is described in the privacy notice, in the UK privacy notice, and in the Data Processing Agreement.
9. Video calls and recording
Ally provisions end-to-end encrypted browser video rooms for mentorship sessions. Recording requires both parties' explicit consent within the room. AllyHub does not record calls without such consent and does not retain the media stream server-side beyond the transient encoding needed to relay video between participants. If either party clicks Record, the recording is stored inside your Ally cabinet and can be deleted at any time by either party.
10. Intellectual property
The Ally cabinet software, the Ally trademark, all page designs, guides, and mentor training material are the property of AllyHub Ltd. You retain full ownership of the content you create inside your cabinet — your notes, your homework entries, your messages. By using shared notes with a mentor, you grant the mentor a limited licence to co-edit that document within your cabinet during the mentorship relationship. Mentors are not entitled to reuse your notes elsewhere.
11. Termination
You may terminate this contract at any time by cancelling your plan and, separately, by deleting your Ally cabinet from the deletion page. We may terminate this contract if you materially breach these terms; if we do, we will notify you by email at the address on file, give you fourteen (14) days to remedy the breach where remediable, and only then close the cabinet. On termination we will honour any sessions already booked or refund them pro-rata.
12. Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where UK law does not permit us to do so — this includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud. Subject to that, our aggregate liability under these terms in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us in that period, and (b) one hundred pounds sterling (£100). We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you by email at least thirty (30) days in advance. Continued use of Ally after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The version currently in force is shown at the top of this page; superseded versions are archived and available on request from support@allyhub.org.
14. Complaints
If you are unhappy with something, please tell us first: support@allyhub.org. If we cannot resolve it, you may escalate a data-protection matter to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Our ICO registration is ZA 947 218.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to hear disputes, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you retain any additional rights under the law of your country of residence.
16. Entire agreement
These terms, together with the privacy notice, UK privacy notice, cookies policy, Data Processing Agreement, Acceptable Use Policy, refund policy, and Consumer Rights Act notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and AllyHub Ltd regarding your use of Ally.
